Join us for a feast of food and cultural activities as we celebrate the Food for Thought project with tastings and displays of art, food and history.

Beginning in February, Food for Thought has seen community members come together to share food, skills and conversations about food culture through art.

Kung-Fu Tea Ceremony with Carol Natalotto

KUNG-FU TEA CEREMONY WITH CAROL NATALOTTO

Take part in a traditional Taiwanese Kung-Fu Tea Ceremony with Carol Natalotto. Open Day. 

Slow down and join Carol in one of two 30 minute sessions as she shares her tea making skills and knowledge of tea houses and ceramic tea wares.

Mundaring Adult Creative & Learning Centre- Rebecca De Vries

Mundaring Adult Creative & Learning Centre Open Day

Visit the creative and charming setting of the Mundaring Adult Creative and Learning Centre and wander through as they open their studios to showcase the courses on offer and what participants have been creating during the Food for Thought project.

Come and see the delightful Uthando dolls and upholstery display. There will be a picnic display, featuring works from the quilting, mosaic, and botanical art classes, and a cooking-themed display from the sewing, creative writing, eco-art, and family history groups. The yoga group will share their special Ashram recipes for you to take home.

View recent works created by members of the painting, leadlight, and photography groups. Participate in ceramic, woodwork and wood turning, upholstery, oil painting, yoga and meditation, and eco-art demonstrations.  

Take a break in the Gallery Café or on the veranda, where you can enjoy a delicious Devonshire tea. Pop into the op shop and peruse the wonderful array of preloved goods, vessels, and china. The bookstore will have a terrific range of cookbooks available, and the plant nursery is bound to have some treasures that will lure you back into the garden.

Join Wardandi Bibbulmun woman Dale Tilbrook on a cultural journey that will ignite all the senses.

Sniff, touch and taste native Australian bush foods, herbs, spices and peppers, discover their medicinal properties.

Cake with Flowers- Natasha Brownfield

Cake Decorating Demonstration

Visit talented pastry artisan Natasha Brownfield as she shares her tips for creating beautiful and memorable cakes. Natasha will share a range of decorating techniques, from making beautiful natural colours to embellishing with fresh flowers and fruit, along with butter cream piping tips that will ensure your next creation steals the show!

Bees Entering Hive

Bongers Bees: The Story of Honey

Do you want to know how honey is made, why there are so many different flavours of honey, or what is required when keeping bees? You can find the answers to all these questions and more at the Food for Thought Open Day, where Bongers Bees will be selling and doing tastings of their delicious locally made honey products. They will also be doing a bee keeping demonstration and showcasing all their beekeeping equipment.

Cake with Lemons

THE GREAT BAKE OFF

Pay homage to the historic tradition of showing off your culinary skills by creating a cake to a set recipe, entering your delicious creation to be judged by the knowledgeable and highly esteemed Country Women’s Association (CWA), then eagerly awaiting the announcement of ‘best cake’ with fellow community cooks.

Winners will be announced at 12:30pm
