Nature is a great teacher. Observing and experiencing it can stimulate our creative senses which in turn is beneficial to ourselves and our environment.

Building on their community partnership, Mundaring Arts Centre Inc., Mundaring Camera Club and Shire of Mundaring invite photographers to submit new photographic works that explore scale and perspective to highlight the beauty of the minute and the vast.
For the 2025 photography competition and exhibition, photographers are encouraged to visit the Mundaring Arts Centre and view the exhibitions, Richard Woldendorp I A View from Above and Organic Matter as a source of inspiration. These exhibitions reveal the remarkable patterns, forms and compositions that often go unnoticed, with the artists experimenting with scale to reveal the extraordinary.
Richard Woldendorp - A View from Above presents a survey of aerial photographs from the 1980s to early 2000s, that celebrate his vision for the life within the landforms, their complex patterns and the powerful identity of the Australian landscape.
Organic Matter takes viewers to a ground level to explore plant structures and materials that celebrate the intricate details of the artist’s environment.
Entrants are invited to submit up to 4 photographs for selection that capture and celebrate the photographer’s interpretation of scale. Subject may include the delicate veins of a leaf; the reflective surface of a drop of water; otherworldly landscapes within which hide the smallest of creatures and structures, to the abstraction of form that occurs from a distance.
PRIZES:
1st Value $800
2nd Value $600
3rd Value $300
Select prints will be available for sale unframed for $80 during the exhibition, with all proceeds going to the photographer.
