The Making - Terracotta Horse Totems by Kasirajan Subbaiah

November 14, 2017

For those that missed it, this fantastic time-lapse film documents the making of the two 2.2m terracotta horse totems by potter Kasirajan Subbaiah from Tamil Nadu, as part of a residency at Midland Junction Arts Centre for the Habits of Horses project. The horse totems, the ceramic horses made by community participants and a series of Ganesha sculptures were then fired in a ‘community built’ wood kiln at Entopia Winery in the Swan Valley.

Filmed by Dan Smith from the City of Swan

Supported by Australian Government through the Department of Communications and the Arts, Community Arts Network, the WA Government through the Department of Local Government Cultural Industries and Sport and St John of God Healthcare. Support from these sources has enabled us to mount the exhibitions, host the residencies and bring the artists to WA.
