Honorary Life Members Announced

The Mundaring Arts Centre Board took the opportunity of the annual Shire of Mundaring Art Acquisition Exhibition opening last Friday 18 March, to acknowledge the exceptional contributions made to our community by four wonderful people by offering each of them Life Membership to MAC. MAC Board Chairperson, Jude van der Merwe, shares her comments on each of our newest Honorary Life Members.

“An artist of enormous sensibility, skill and ability across many media, she has been an extraordinary supporter of the Mundaring Arts Centre both as a Board and Committee member, curator and someone who is willing to share her work with our community.”

“One of Mundaring’s special treasures.  An artist, designer, writer, curator and mentor; her skills and abilities are legendary. Phillippa has been involved with the Mundaring Arts Centre since its inception in 1979. She has contributed her intelligence and integrity to much of the planning and strategy development for MAC and we are grateful for her thoughtful approach in the past and look forward to much more in the future.”

“An artist of extraordinary talent combined with a deeply reflective perspective on human nature and society, Hans has supported MAC through contributions to exhibitions, the Shop and to the public sphere with his art.  Hans is a reliable ‘arriver’ at openings and can be counted on to share insights to the work on show and a dry sense of humour to every occasion.”

“From the time of Helen’s leadership of the Hills Community Support Group (now Rise), her time as an elected member of the Mundaring Shire and later Shire President, Helen has been an unswerving supporter of MAC and all its works.  She has an intrinsic understanding of the value and meaning that art and culture bring to society and continues to support MAC through advice and encouragement.”
