Since 2005, Mundaring Arts Centre (MAC) has celebrated the art of children’s book creation through the Act-Belong-Commit heARTlines Children's Literature and Illustration Festival - a month-long festival of workshops, talks and demonstrations, complemented by an outstanding exhibition of original book illustrations from recently published children’s literature by WA authors and illustrators.
Curated by author Cristy Burne, and hosted by MAC, some of WA's most talented authors and illustrators have been invited to facilitate hands-on workshops, presentations, demonstrations and an exhibition to engage and excite our community about literature and the arts.

DRAW CARTOON CHARACTERS WITH JAMES FOLEY
Learn how to draw your own cartoon characters with children's author and illustrator James Foley. By the end of this workshop you'll know the basics of drawing funny facial expressions and bodies, and how to develop your own character.

Come and write with Deb Fitzpatrick, acclaimed author! Deb will discuss tips and tricks of creating an engaging story and participants will have the opportunity to plot their own narrative.

ILLUSTRATING FOLKTALES WITH FRANÉ LESSAC
Explore the art of illustrating folktales with Frané Lessac. Learn practical ideas to share your own folktale and create an illustration based on your idea. At the end of the 16+ session Frané will answer questions about getting published and offer advice to budding authors and illustrators.
